Are you spending your time differently? What are you doing more/less of? I have been spending my time much differently then I would usually if I could leave my house. A typical weekend for me doesn’t include a lot of time at my house, especially alone. I usually spend most of my time out, going to restaurants, driving around, and exploring new places with my friends. But in the past couple of weeks I have mostly been going through my things and organizing drawers I didn’t know I had. I spent my entire day yesterday sanding then painting an old dresser of mine, which I’m pretty proud of now. After that I have been noticing more imperfections within my room and different things I could get rid of or move or paint. All this cleaning and somehow some part of my room is always messy.

What does your neighborhood look like? Are people walking around? I am actually somewhat surprised with the sumner of people outside right now. I read this prompt and rolled my chair over to my window and looked through your blinds. Right outside was my next door neighbor outside with her two small kids and dog. On days where it is warmer, there are quite a few people outside in their front yards or walking around the block. My family has been acting the same way, me and my sister going out to the front yard to play volleyball on nice days, and many dog walks when given the chance.

What impact is technology having on your daily life? Is this different than usual? Technology was already a pretty big part of my life, but after having to do all of school online it has become an every bigger part. When I wake up in the morning I immediately go on my phone onto canvas and check into advisory. I spend the rest of my morning checking canvas and then spend the rest of the day doing online activities or on zoom for classes. Outside of school, I also spend a lot of time talking to my friends online. For my friend's birthday, we are all getting on a zoom to celebrate. Technology has always been a big part of my daily life, but now, it has become extremely essential. 

In the digital world we live in today, our privacy is lacking. Our information is collected through a process called data mining, which can put your information at risk of being hacked. Along with this, it can be sold to other companies and even the government. But people are willing to compromise their privacy partly because they are unaware of the extent of what's being collected, but also because using the services that are collecting and potentially exposing your data, such as FaceBook or Amazon, are convenient and provide useful services. The government has also allowed for this to be done and has taken advantage of these technologies. Everyone should be more concerned and aware of what’s going on behind the scenes with their data because it affects every one of our lives much more than you know. Technology is constantly developing at a rapid rate. Many are unaware that with these advancements, there are undesirable consequences of the invasion of privacy that comes with it...

Me and my friends used to play this game when we were little. We would go around and ask each other how they would describe color to a blind person, or someone who’s never seen color before. A seemingly simple task but when attempted, near impossible. Try describing blue. It’s the color of the sky, it’s light, or dark, it’s kinda like green but also purple. I don’t think this description would help a blind person in the slightest. But what even is color? How do you really define it? Well a quick Google search will lead you to dictionary.com where you get the first definition; “ the quality of an object or substance with respect to light reflected by the object, usually determined visually by measurement of hue, saturation, and brightness of the reflected light; saturation or chroma; hue.” Shift your eyes down, and you get a second way to use this word; “the natural appearance of the skin, especially of the face; complexion”. Although similar, these definitions mean different things. ...

Just a few nights ago, after an exciting bus ride back from homecoming, me and some of my friends walked through downtown Winnetka to get back to my house. This exciting journey took us past the village green, down Lincoln, and even past the generic brick building also known as the home alone house. I know this section well as I had a summer job right in the center of it at a new ice cream shop called Adelheidis. This area, and Adelheidis, is largely controlled by Hoffmann Commercial Real Estate . Along with adding a new ice cream shop, a few years prior they also added five bronze statues to the area. According to The Winnetka Current , these statues were put up by Mr. Hoffmann as a part of a "beautification plan" to make the area look nicer and more appealing.
