Me and my friends used to play this game when we were little. We would go around and ask each other how they would describe color to a blind person, or someone who’s never seen color before. A seemingly simple task but when attempted, near impossible. Try describing blue. It’s the color of the sky, it’s light, or dark, it’s kinda like green but also purple. I don’t think this description would help a blind person in the slightest. But what even is color? How do you really define it? Well a quick Google search will lead you to dictionary.com where you get the first definition; “ the quality of an object or substance with respect to light reflected by the object, usually determined visually by measurement of hue, saturation, and brightness of the reflected light; saturation or chroma; hue.” Shift your eyes down, and you get a second way to use this word; “the natural appearance of the skin, especially of the face; complexion”. Just a few nights ago, after an exciting bus ride back from homecoming, me and some of my friends walked through downtown Winnetka to get back to my house. This exciting journey took us past the village green, down Lincoln, and even past the generic brick building also known as the home alone house. I know this section well as I had a summer job right in the center of it at a new ice cream shop called Adelheidis. This area, and Adelheidis, is largely controlled by Hoffmann Commercial Real Estate . Along with adding a new ice cream shop, a few years prior they also added five bronze statues to the area. According to The Winnetka Current , these statues were put up by Mr. Hoffmann as a part of a "beautification plan" to make the area look nicer and more appealing. I believe that look is something that the Winnetka community values.  A few weeks ago I was talking to my parents and asked them why they decided to move to Winnetka.
